During the mini EVP session on Monday, May 16th, our tour was approached by a staff member of one of the haunted places we visit. Hear him recount a paranormal experience that he and a fellow staff member had while on break several years ago… They witnessed a full-body apparition!
This is the latest anecdotal evidence, or ghost story, that we can add to the numerous reports of supernatural activity that continues to occur here...
There was no electronic voice phenomena, or paranormal voices, caught during this tour. However, there is a great example of a problem frequently encountered by ghost hunters: Background noise contamination…
The tour guide, Jim, asks: “Did you go to school here?” Immediately after you should hear a male voice reply: “Yeah”. Jim had done something very important earlier on in the recording that let us know that the voice was from a background conversation and not paranormal- It’s called “tagging”.
During an EVP session the investigators should mention, or “tag” every noise they hear in the environment: doors creaking, wind howling, cars passing and so on. Then, during audio analysis the reviewers will know that these sounds are natural background noises and not supernatural. Tagging that distant conversation was essential for us to not mistake the voice as EVP.
Thanks to all our guests who participated during this tour and I’m very happy that we could demonstrate this important aspect of recording electronic voice phenomena.
